Comment:Having passed my 70th year I found myself sitting across from a Practice Nurse who is telling me I have type 2 diabetes and classified as morbidly obese with high blood pressure, a bad hip (that is not skeletal) a damaged knee and bald!
All that was left for me is a visit from the Grim Reaper.
I was in such a bad condition that walking more than 60 yards was severely painful and that was with the aid of a walking stick, climbing stairs left me breathless and any movement caused sweating that a pig would be envious of. SO -when the Nurse suggested exercise I thought “What Planet etc”.
I got the NHS referral, arranged a meeting with a specialist trainer (took the lift up to the Gym) who poked/ prodded/weighed and measured me and asked me what I wanted.
The first thing was to get rid of the pain, secondly to stop the breathlessness, thirdly to lose weight and I mentioned my DREAM of being able to RUN
A training plan was generated for the first month, the kit I would be using was explained and demonstrated with the instructor watching my every move until he was satisfied I was ok. The running bit was ignored!!
It was not easy but even in my state “do-able”, so when the first month review came I was amazes to report NO PAIN IN MY HIP—Knee getting better, breathlessness GONE. Plus lost 10lbs and 3” 0ff waist
Month 2 was programmed, a bit of weight training introduced - enjoyable, sweaty, noisy and at the end NO PAIN AT
ALL, weight down another 10lb waist minus another 2 “ AND I RAN anyone want to buy some walking sticks?
Word of warning because I felt my days of Hill Walking were over I gave away all my kit, Matterhorn Boots, Ventile Jacket etc now going to cost me an arm and leg to replace---Not a Clever thing to do!

Comment: Having recently turned 30, I felt like I needed a way to get myself in better shape as I was becoming increasingly less physically active and putting on weight. I had never been able to run but I knew that when I was younger and more active, I was much stronger and felt more energetic and alive. I approached Paul with the hope that while I was totally new to training, I would have guidance and help along the way. I was concerned about the weight and the possibility of injury. Paul quickly gained my confidence on this. From my very first workout, I have seen Paul constantly concerned about my safety as we progress through each workout. I am not concerned about nearly as much as I was when I first started. Each session helps keep me motivated and the attention to form yields results that are quite impressive. In a little over 19 sessions, I have seen my strength increase significantly. I am working out with weights and within my first 5 weeks I had ran my first ever charity event, that I never thought would be possible before I started with Paul. With the help of and motivation from Paul a regiment of targeted strengthening and speed exercises for my legs was devised to help with running. I believe that there will be a day very shortly when I will be able to run a half marathon. I have never made a better decision than hiring Paul, I have lost 15lbs. of fat and gained 1pound of muscle. My body fat is down by 7% percent, and my cholesterol and blood pressure are at healthy levels. My BMI has changed from overweight to normal and I've lost several inches from my body and 5 inches alone from my waist. In just two months I can already see and feel a huge difference in my abs, back, and legs, which only leads to one thing, my favourite exercise of all shopping for new clothes that fit. It's thrilling to be seeing this for the first time in my life! I still have goals to reach, but I just know it's only a matter of time. Paul has taught me something new every time and keeps me looking forward to next workout. I used to dread working out, but with Paul I love it and thus I keep at it. It's interesting how everything else in life seems to fall into place when fitness is improved. I no longer just want to "veg" in front of the TV after coming home from work. I actually have energy to do all those little things that I was always putting off. I have no more cravings for pizza and other unhealthy foods. And perhaps most importantly, my self-confidence has skyrocketed.

Comment: When I had my first training session with you Paul, I found it really fun and instead of wondering when the session would end I was left wanting more (even though I was already breathless and tired). I would definately recommend the plyometrics to anyone as its very easy but very effective too! Thank you Paul!

I found i enjoyed going to the gym so much more when i had structure and goals to reach. I found I was pushing myself to my limits at times (which i wouldnt have done if i was doing it by myself) but i definately enjoyed the challenge. I noticed a difference with a couple of weeks and now feel sooooo much fitter and more confident about my body- I managed to loose 3.5" from my waist which was a big achievment for me!! I'll definately be booking up some more sessions soon. Thanks again Paul x
